My teaching philosophy focuses on empowering individual growth and process, both in creativity and technique. I guide learners through creating new art work through a cycle of research and planning, practice with media, completion of work, and final reflection.

Researching living and historical artists, as well as topics from science, literature, and human culture, allows us to see what is possible, and plan and practice new techniques.

Reflecting on our in-progress or complete work, either independently or with peers, gives us a place to continue our creative growth.

Artists never stop learning!
